Piano

The Piano Department focuses on European Classical and Twentieth Century Music. The curriculum includes training for solos, two piano duos and chamber music.  Weekly classes are offered in theory, improvisation, performance, vocal accompaniment, and composition. 

Piano students are self-motivated, responsible and dedicated to advancing their artistry in a rigorous, pre-professional, musical environment. Students participate in jazz ensembles, inter-disciplinary collaborations, chamber music groups, and service learning projects.

The Piano Department is looking for students who demonstrate an intermediate to advanced level of technique and sight-reading ability; have an understanding of period style and character of the work performed; sensitivity of touch and tonal beauty; and a passion for the music performed.
