Overview
  • About E.R. Taylor Elementary School

Our school motto is: ER Taylor Elementary: We are College Bound!  Everyday, we work in service of this mission by partnering with our students and families to strive for the values and competencies outlined in the SFUSD graduate profile, which is a part of SFUSD's Vision 2025

E.R. Taylor is a PK- 5th grade elementary school located in the Portola neighborhood, which is in the southeast section of San Francisco, also known as the Garden District.  ER Taylor offers a variety of programs to support student achievement, and the social/emotional health of our students.  ER Taylor's academic program is grounded in SFUSD Common Core aligned curriculum and best instructional practices across our three language pathways: English Plus, Spanish Biliteracy, and Cantonese Biliteracy.

Through the Second Step program, and the Positive Interventions Behavior Support (PBIS) framework, we stress positive peer relationships among students and maintain high expectations for student behavior school-wide.   We provide opportunities for student choice in learning to encourage children to discover their own talents and strengths through class projects, or performances, such as gardening activities, hands-on science experiments, and visual and performing arts.

At ER Taylor, we also know that to meet our mission and goals, we must be partners with our families and community stakeholders.  In support of this, we offer regular family workshops, family committees, including the ER Taylor PTA, along with monthly newsletters to keep families informed.   Our students also benefit from a variety of extended learning opportunities, such as our Artist-in-Residence programs, Arts and Music instruction, and outdoor education time in our amazing school garden.  We have wonderful, on-site After School Programming provided by our partner, Bay Area Community Resources (BACR), which offers homework support and fun lessons, including sports, music, cooking and art.  We also work with many other wonderful off-site after school programs that are amazing partners in our community.

As you can see... our mission at ER Taylor is to support each and every student to know they belong, to feel good about who they are and be proud of their identity, to think critically about the world, to grow into thoughtful caring citizens, and to be prepared with the knowledge, skills, and confidence that will support them to be college bound!
