Non-SFUSD High Schools

Some private schools may ask for a letter of recommendation during the application process (most SFUSD schools will not).

If you need a recommendation, here are some tips to remember:

  • Please give your recommender (teacher/counselor/administrator) as much time as possible for your recommendation (at least 2 weeks is nice). The more time they have, the better job they can do on your recommendation.
  • It is helpful to provide your recommender with a copy of your résumé/brag sheet and other information you would like them to include.
  • Be sure to provide your recommender a self addressed, stamped envelope for your recommendation if it needs to be mailed in. Some recommendations can now be done online or by email.
  • Only ask for a recommendation if you need one.

Brag sheets are available here: Google Doc format (make a copy for yourself and share with Mr. Jang at or downloadable PDF (hand hard copy to Mr. Jang or email scanned copy to Mr. Jang).

If you need to give a school Mr. Jang's email address for recommendations, please give them
