Dear DHS Students, Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Downtown High School for the 2022-23 school year!
Let the reinvigorating and strengthening of our community and construction of the 2022–2023 school year begin! While we continue to live during the time of COVID, and while its implications, including ways in which a variant like omicron BA.5 must inform our approach, we have the opportunity to renew our commitments to our community—and in so doing, to go forward with the mission and vision of Downtown HS:
- Our mission is to provide continuation high school students with an alternative educational experience that supports both academic and personal growth through project-based learning.
- Our vision is to re-engage students through educational experiences and curricula that empower them to develop the necessary consciousness and self-determination to create positive and meaningful paths now and in the future.
We have a six week (hexamester) grading period, and will be holding mandatory guardian/student/teacher conferences at the end of hexamesters 1 and 3. Mark your calendar for our annual back to school night, which is the evening of September 8. Please check your email and the school website for updates. Lastly, if you haven’t already please set up your parentvue account using the provided access code so that you can view all your student’s information such as grades and attendance. It also allows us to communicate with you more effectively.
