San Francisco Libraries Access

The City Librarian has given approval for students to activate their Scholar Cards over the phone. Students can call the Main Library or their local branch.

During the closure, students can also contact SFPL text and chat to activate their Scholar Cards.  Take a look at  this deck highlighting SFPL resources and how students can remotely activate their Scholar Card during school closure

Effective Monday March 16, students can activate their Scholar Card three different ways.

1)      Email info@sfpl.org

2)      Call your local library

3)      Visit any SFPL location

Students will need to confirm your legal name, name of school, address, date of birth and create a PIN (4 digits).  With this information, SFPL will immediately process and issue the new library card. Students can access all our digital resources with just the card number and PIN. We will mail the physical card to the student.

Our public libraries remain open and we are recruiting Teens for our summer leadership programs.

Free Hoopla Access for SFUSD Students  (eBooks & Audiobooks):

All SFUSD students have access to Hoopla, a service that allows them to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, and comics for free - all they need is their SF library card. Click here to learn more.
