Flynn Principal’s Welcome Message

Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We are thrilled to start the school year at Flynn and to return to our wonderful school community.

We are so excited to get started this year. We accomplished a great deal last year and I have every confidence that this year will be even better. We are eager to continue to engage and empower our families as key decision makers. In addition, we commit to ensuring that every child is provided access to a joyful learning environment that makes sure our students are equipped with the skills, habits, and mindsets they need to be successful in the future. A major reason our school is so special is the sense of community that each and every one of you contribute through your support for our students. Let’s continue to think through ways that we can partner together to make sure that every Flynn family feels a sense of belonging as a member of the Flynn community.

The reason I am confident that we can provide an outstanding school experience for our students is because of our exceptional teachers and staff members. You will be happy to know that the large majority of our teachers from last year are returning, and we want to welcome several new educators to our community. We celebrate Evelin Servin as a Kindergarten Spanish Dual-Immersion Teacher. Nicholas Berry joins the second grade team as a Spanish Dual Immersion teacher. On our Special Education team, we welcome Michelle Sahadi as the 3rd-5th grade SOAR teacher, and Michelle Leitzke as a Special Education Resource Specialist. Erin Goebel will join us as our school librarian. We also are excited to share that Gretchen Schuessler will be teaching full-time as a 2nd Grade General Education teacher, and Angelica Rodriguez will be joining the 3rd grade team as a General Education teacher. Rustin Carlson will transition to be our new Spanish Reading Intervention teacher. We also look forward to introducing you to some wonderful new paraeducators and office staff when the school year begins.

Throughout the year, we will be communicating with you in a variety of ways—the Flynn Flyer newsletters, text messages, and over the phone. Whenever you have a question, concern, or wondering, please know that our door is always open. While there may be times where we are in classrooms and unable to sit down at that time, our awesome team in the office will make sure we get the message and are able to follow up. There will also be scheduled times for you to share your thoughts and connect with other families and us during our Principal Chats, Community Meetings, and other school events. We also want to make it easy for you to get involved at school this year—through volunteering to support teachers and students around the school, or participating in groups like the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC), African American Parent Advisory Coucil (AAPAC), and School Site Council (SSC). Whether you have a large or small amount of time, please do not hesitate to ask how you can get involved at Flynn!

We are looking forward to a school year full of joyful learning and look forward to our partnership in your child’s education!
