Bulletin No 2- Sept. 1

Dear Families,

I hope this finds you all well and that you are having a great week!

It has been great to meet your children and to spend time with them in the classrooms. They are learning many school routines and seem to be enjoying school. We are working on assessing students’ academic levels and getting to know them. Our MEC team is a dedicated team as you will get to learn. This week we will be hosting classroom meetings for families. Please make every effort attend your child’s classroom meeting. You will have a chance to meet the teacher and get an overview of their specific procedures  and expectations. If you are unable to attend, please contact your child’s teacher to set up an appointment. We are partners in educating your child!

On September 18 we will host our first Back to School Festival and Garden Day from 10-12pm. We hope to see you there. I will be sharing more about the school and the programs we have to support you and your child. You will have the opportunity to meet staff members  and we can connect as a community!

Next Monday is Labor Day and schools will be closed. Classes will resume on Tuesday. The school day starts at 8:40am and ends at 2:55 pm. It is important your child arrive to school no later than 8:40. The doors open at 8:20 for breakfast and then children go to the yard at 8:35. If for some reason your child will be arriving late, please come up to the 2nd floor, ring the door bell and we will meet at the door to escort your child to class. If your child will be absent for any reason, please call the school to let us know.

We work very hard to teach healthy habits at MEC. We know there is a prevalence of diabetes cases amongst our community so we focus on healthy eating habits. If you will be sending your child to school with a lunch or snacks, please send fruit or vegetables as a snack. We discourage eating chips, sodas, sugary drinks and high fat foods on campus.

Next Tuesday, we will be hosting a parent information meeting regarding the district’s procedures about Covid-19. There will be an announcement in the bulletin and you will receive emails and text messages as reminders. The meeting will be on Zoom. Ms. Adelina and Nurse Lisa will send the zoom links.

I wish you a wonderful week!

Best regards,

Carla Vasquez
