Thank you for your interest in Rooftop Alternative School!
Our tours are designed to give you a real feel for the school. We hope you’ll get a sense of what it’s like to be a child in our classrooms, halls, yards, and programs, and whether Rooftop is a good fit for your family.
Do note that our tours are for adults only. Babies are okay, but please make other arrangements for toddlers and preschoolers.
Our school has two campuses: Twin Peaks, which houses grades Pre-K through 4, and Mayeda for grades 5 through 8. All tours will begin with an information session on the Twin Peaks campus. However, not all tours cover all levels. If you are interested in Pre-K or grades 5 through 8, please choose your date carefully.
Twin Peaks campus tours will include the following:
- A brief information session and Q&A in the multi-purpose room on the second floor of the main building
- Smaller group tours led by current Rooftop parents that make sure you see:
- One kinder classroom
- One mid-level classroom (1st or 2nd grade)
- One upper-level classroom (3rd or 4th grade)
- Sensory Motor room
- Art closet (surprised you there, didn’t we?)
You are welcome to arrive anytime after 7:45 a.m., with tours beginning promptly at 8:05 on. Please leave plenty of time to find parking (or consider taking the 37, 33, or 48 bus), but also understand that current Rooftop parents who park for our 7:50 drop-off will be freeing up spots between 7:55 and 8:00.
Tours typically begin at the end of October and end in January.
Note: After tour season, we can’t accommodate individual tour requests due to the number of people who want to visit Rooftop School and the disruption tours cause to learning.
