Students in the Theatre Arts Department study and experience all aspects of theatre through classroom and studio work in a serious, rigorous, conservatory-style program. The program includes acting, movement and ethnic dance, playwriting, voice and speech, Shakespeare, directing, periods and styles, script analysis, theatrical literature, and theatre history.
At the core of the department are the beliefs that product stems from process, quality is more important than quantity, and training for future study is the method required in a pre-professional setting. The program offers four levels of training to 80 qualified students grouped by ability and successful completion of the prior level. Classes are taught by credentialed teachers and artists-in-residence.
