Apply for 2022-2023 School Year

Introduction

The following information is for applying to grades TK through 12. If you want to apply to Prekindergarten, please visit the Early Education page.

I need a school for 2022-2023 and have not applied before.

You still have two options for applying for school. We generally recommend that families consider using both options, because they work differently and serve different purposes.

Wait Pool

First, you can submit a Wait Pool application right now, anytime until the deadline on August 10, 2022. You can submit a Wait Pool application for any one school, so it should be a school you really want. If a seat opens for your student, you will be notified starting between August 15, 2022 and September 2, 2022. Please see here for more information about Wait Pool.

New-to-SF Enrollment

Second, families who are new to San Francisco and/or have never applied for SFUSD schools can participate in New-to-SF Enrollment beginning July 5, 2022. This is a way for eligible families to enroll their students in any school that has openings and no Wait Pool. This is an important way to get your student enrolled in SFUSD as soon as possible, so that they have a school to go to while you await the results of their Wait Pool application. Read more about New-to-SF Enrollment.

I applied for 2022-2023 in the Main Round and/or Round 2, and want to try for a different school.

Open Enrollment

Second, you can participate in Open Enrollment, which begins on July 18 and is open to anyone. During Open Enrollment, you sign up to join a queue, and an EPC counselor will help you enroll your student at any school that has openings and no Wait Pool. Especially if your student currently does not have a school assignment because you declined a previous offer, this is an important way to get your student enrolled in SFUSD as soon as possible, so that they have a school to go to while you await the results of their Wait Pool application.
