New-to-SF Enrollment

New-to-SF Enrollment

What is New-to-SF Enrollment?

Families who are new to San Francisco and/or have never applied for an SFUSD school may participate in New-to-SF Enrollment. This enrollment period starts on July 5, 2023 and goes through July 14, 2023.

Students who have only submitted a Wait Pool application for the 2023-24 school year (but not a Main Round or Round 2 application) are still eligible to participate in New-to-SF enrollment. Inter-District transfers are not able to enroll during the New-to-SF enrollment period, but are eligible to enroll during the Open Enrollment period with an Inter-District permit beginning July 17.

How do I enroll?

A student can receive an immediate assignment to a school with openings and no Wait Pool. If those conditions are met, enrollment is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. A student who enrolls through New-to-SF Enrollment can continue to wait for a different school in the Wait Pool, if they wish to do so.

Families can participate in New-to-SF Enrollment beginning July 5, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. by visiting one of the Educational Placement Center (EPC) offices in-person, or by calling (415) 241-6085.

If you are visiting EPC in-person, please bring this list of required documents with you.

More information about this process will be added to this page in late June 2023.
