SFUSD is developing a new student assignment system for elementary schools. Use this webpage to stay up to date and provide feedback throughout the process!
In December 2018, the Board of Education passed Resolution 189-25A1 Developing a Community Based Student Assignment System, which began the process of developing a new student assignment system for elementary schools. Throughout the 2019-20 school year SFUSD will host a series of public meetings with the Board's Ad Hoc Committee on Student Assignment as well as a series of community engagement events in order to develop a new policy that better meets the needs of SFUSD students and their families. Our goal is to develop a revised student assignment policy for elementary schools by June 2020.
There will be multiple opportunities for community members to provide feedback throughout the policy development process.
- Attend a meeting of the Board of Education's Ad Hoc Committee on Student Assignment to provide feedback to the Board and staff
- Attend a community workshop in January or February (dates and locations to be determined) to help workshop aspects of the new policy
