The Reading Inventory is part of the SFUSD District Assessment Plan. It is a computer-adaptive, research-based reading assessment that measures students’ level of reading comprehension and reports it using the Lexile Framework® for reading. Reading Inventory (RI) assessment results will be used to inform instruction and conferring, connect readers to texts, and to monitor progress in reading throughout the year.
There are two components in the Reading Inventory Assessment:
Learning Outcomes and Instruction
The Reading Inventory measures students’ abilities to process texts of increasing levels of complexity. This measure allow for monitoring a child’s progress and growth in reading across the school year and across grade levels. With this information teachers can differentiate and plan efficient and effective instruction for all learners.
Reading Inventory measure a students' reading in the Fall and Spring. It can be used to allocate resources, to engage with families, and to create reading goals for and with students. The practice of assessing student learning is essential for effective instruction and student achievement.
There are two components in the Reading Inventory Assessment:
