Presidio Middle School has a multicultural population of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. We are committed to delivering a standards-based education of highest quality to all students. We believe that all students have a desire to learn and can achieve. We recognize individual differences and offer many ways to ensure students get what they need to succeed in a safe and supportive environment. Through a shared decision-making process, the administration and faculty work collaboratively to establish policies and procedures in which both the students and teachers can perform to their maximum capabilities. Beyond the core curriculum, students can access a rich and varied elective with offerings including Computer Technology, Foreign Languages, Yearbook, and Home Arts.

Our mission is to: provide an interdisciplinary curriculum which generates interest, motivates, and challenges student learning; maintain an enrichment program which will expand student learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom environment; improve teaching and learning to enhance the academic achievement and personal development of students. We collaborate with the Beacon afterschool program and community-based organizations to provide students with extra support and enrichment opportunities. We believe that parents are our partners. We believe in the importance of parent involvement and actively promote two-way communication. We strive to provide opportunities for families to learn how to help their children succeed in school. School counselors are an integral and essential component of our school team. Our support services include counselors who help support and promote the academic success of all students and facilitate interactions/communication among students, teachers, and parents/guardians.

Opportunities for Parental Involvement

Presidio Middle School has established various organizations and activities to support parent participation: an active PTSA and School Site Council that meet monthly, and an English Learners Advisory Committee. In addition, parents participate in activities to raise money for teacher grants to support classroom instruction, outdoor education, music, drama, and athletic programs. They volunteer in the library and student store, supervise dances and field trips. Parents are important partners of the Presidio community. The PTSA/SSC sponsors special parent meetings concerning such topics as high school information, preparing for adolescence, school safety and curriculum standards. In 2003, Presidio received the National PTA School of Excellence for Parent Involvement award.
