Our TK program is designed to bridge the preschool learning environment with that of the traditional kindergarten classroom. It is taught by multiple subject credentialed teachers who blend preschool and kindergarten instructional practices in order to meet the individual needs of each child. The instructional day is from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. No out-of-school-time care is currently available, but if enough families are interested, the District may be able to establish an afternoon program.
The Zaida T. Rodriguez Early Education School - formerly the Mission Child Development Center - was named after Zaida T. Rodriguez, who had worked with San Francisco schools for 32 years.
At the Zaida T. Rodriguez Early Education School we are a "Thinking Community for Children and Adults." Strong collaborations between children, staff, parents and community enable us to share the responsibilities, challenges, joys and pleasures of learning. Our staff creates an environment that supports children's learning, promotes their sense of wonder and curiousity, and invites them to engage in meaningful work. The teaching staff is guided by a deep understanding of the nature of children's cognitive, emotional and social development.
Families are part of the learning community and the life of the school, and children are seen as inventors, explorers and dreamers. Our staff recognizes, supports and values children's relationships with their families and the cultures and languages of their families.
Our history - who we are, the present and the past - helps us evolve into the future.
