Opportunities for Parental Involvement
Parent-Family leadership is fostered through our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Site Council (SSC) and English Language Acquisition Committee (ELAC). The PTA organizes schoolwide events to support our instructional program, i.e. Book Fair, Fall Festival, "Especially Made for You" workshops, Lunar New Year Teahouse, Celebration of Cultures, etc. Our SSC/ELAC committees oversee the implementation of our Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and School Budget. Our parent-family members also volunteer in classrooms, the library and computer lab; assist on field trips; and serve as guest speakers in career awareness. In collaboration with Sutro Child Development Center workshops on parenting skills are held for our families.
