Overview
  • At Tule Elk Park EES, we are dedicated to supporting, and expanding the potentials, strengths, and capabilities of all members of the Tule Elk Park’s community: staff, children and families.

We believe that play is essential to children’s learning and development. We see play as a critical cornerstone to children’s understanding of the world and their development as healthy beings. We also believe that children learn in relationship with peers, teachers, families, and friends. That is why our curriculum is derived from our observations of children’s involvement with others during their school day as well as from the connections children make with their world outside the school, with families and communities.

Our children and services- Tule Elk Park EES serves a diverse community of students ranging from Pre schoolers, Transitional Kindergarteners, and our OST (afterschool) program. The preschool is open from 7:30a.m. - 5:30p.m. Monday – Friday, throughout the year. The school follows a Reggio- inspired educational approach to learning where the children’s inquires and interest drive the curriculum and assessment data drives the instruction. The school focuses on early literacy and follows an Inclusion model for student learning.

“EED’s social responsibility is to serve as the district’s gateway to lifelong learning so that ALL children find their brilliance.” ~ SFUSD Early Education Department Vision Statement

    Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Our TK program is designed to bridge the preschool learning environment with that of the traditional kindergarten classroom. It is taught by multiple subject credentialed teachers who blend preschool and kindergarten instructional practices in order to meet the individual needs of each child. The instructional day is from 8:40 AM to 2:55 PM on M, T, Th, and F, 8:40 AM to 1:40 on W. Out-of-school time care is available from 2:55 to 5:30 PM on W, T, Th, and F and 1:40-5:30 on W.
