The Jefferson School Age Program provides service to children from Kindergarten to 5th grade. With eight classrooms, it is the largest after-school program in SFUSD. The center serves both subsidized and tuition-based families.

Enrichment activities complement the elementary program, and homework assistance is provided. We provide a safe and nurturing environment year round for all students. Children will develop social, emotional, cognitive, physical, cultural, and academic skills through daily activities and experiences inside and outside the classroom.

Since family and community are essential keys to student success, we encourage parents to participate and interact at our center, and we provide resources for the family.

At the school age, our focus is on literacy, math and geography. California standards are the basis for all project-based learning at our school. Students will continue to implement the citywide curriculum called “Caring Schools,” which emphasizes team building and problem solving. The lessons promote positive social and emotional skills for all students inside and outside the classroom.

Before-School Programs

Our before-school program starts at 7:45 AM and serves the students and families of Jefferson Elementary School.

Our hours during winter, spring and summer break are 7:45 AM to 5:45 PM.

Afterschool Programs

The SFUSD Early Education Department administers the Out Of School Time (OST) program at several SFUSD sites.

These enrichment classes are held after school hours with full day sessions available during Spring and Summer breaks.

OST classes are open to students from any elementary school as long as they meet the age requirements.

Qualifying families may take advantage of subsidized tuition depending on family size and gross income.

The Jefferson OST program runs from 2:40 to 5:45 PM during the school year.

Please contact the OST Secretary at the school site you would like to apply to for more information. OST Brochure
