Marina Middle School offers a caring, positive, learning environment centered on students. Equity for Marina Middle School means all students will have equal access to a high quality education. Every student has the opportunity to succeed. We recognize all cultures, teaching respect, and understand our differences and similarities so that every member of our school community feels welcomed and valued.
Marina offers a Chinese Immersion Program, a model physical education department, an outstanding afterschool program as well as honors classes and Gifted and Talented Education (GATE). Marina envisions preparing all of our students for top high school achievement and college preparation. We have high expectations and rigorous academic studies for our students. Students learn in a safe environment where everyone is respected. Students are prepared academically by energetic and dedicated teachers, who encourage them to build a strong foundation for high school. Students enjoy classes where teachers are motivating, friendly, and use a variety of teaching methods. A full-time Peer Resources teacher works with students to create a positive school climate and coordinates Marina's Peer Mentor program. All students understand the meaning of giving back to their community and helping those who cannot help themselves. Many community partners assist Marina students during our afterschool program, including Pets Unlimited, Crissy Field, Blue Water Foundation, Presidio YMCA, San Francisco Public Library and the San Francisco Police Department. In addition, Marina students are active in the community through the Community Service Club by volunteering at the Marina District Merchants Association. We welcome parent involvement, maintain strong communication with families, and offer many opportunities for parents to become a part of the school community.
