Miraloma Elementary School is committed to meeting the academic, social, physical, and emotional needs of our students so that they will be successful, self-motivated learners and productive citizens. One of our core beliefs is that every child can learn. We also believe that happy children learn. We have high standards for every student. We value all children equally and the culture they bring to the school community. We extend ourselves to meet the needs of every individual.

Students at Miraloma acquire knowledge and skills through a rich and varied classroom curriculum. Their experiences in listening, speaking, reading, and other important academic skills enable them to work towards being informed, responsible, competent, successful, and thinking individuals within our society. Teachers use tools to support different learning styles, as well as rewards and incentives for positive behavior and achievement. Learning takes place in an environment of safety and mutual respect. We want our students to feel a sense of ownership and pride—in their classroom, in their school, and in themselves. The students will develop a sense of self-worth, understanding, and respect for individual differences, and a commitment to personal and social responsibility through their interaction with home, school, and community role models. We value strong relationships with students and their families, and use diverse means of communication with our families. A culture of service in our school is defined as a place where the school community, teachers, staff, and parents, are all involved to educate the students to be successful in achieving their life's ambitions.

    Opportunities for Parental Involvement

The Miraloma School PTA is a group of teachers, parents, guardians, and community members who coordinate activities, events and fundraisers. The primary aim of the PTA is to support the Academic Plan developed by the schools governing body, the School Site Council. It is also a forum for all members of the Miraloma community to share their ideas and concerns. Additionally, parents can become involved in the classroom as a volunteer or with any of the various community building and fundraising activities throughout the year. Each year, the parents take on numerous coordinator roles including Parent Involvement, Spanish and Chinese Liaisons, School Tours, Parent Tutoring, Gardening and Grounds Committees, Schoolyard Volunteers, Art Committee, Grant Writing, Wednesday Envelope and many additional positions.
