Register at the Assigned School

After you receive the placement offer, you must register to secure enrollment at the school site if you want to keep the assignment.  Even if you accept a placement offer, you can still choose to seek a higher choice school in the enrollment process.

In order to secure enrollment, you must go to the school and register by bringing the following documents by the deadline date stated on the letter.   

If your child currently attends a San Francisco Unified School District school:
Please go to the school listed on the placement letter between March 19-23, 2018 and April 2-6, 2018 and bring the following items with you:

  • the placement letter,
  • a copy of your application form (if available), and
  • parent/guardian’s picture ID.  

If your child does not currently attend a San Francisco Unified School District school:
Please go to the school listed on the placement letter between March 19-23, 2018 and April 2-6, 2018 and bring the following items with you:

  • the placement letter,
  • a copy of your application form (if available),
  • parent/guardian’s picture ID,
  • proof of your child’s birth: birth certificate or hospital record

Immunizations: All students new to the San Francisco Unified School District must present proof of the required immunizations (all grades) and physical exams (Kindergarteners and first graders) before school starts.  Immunization forms can be obtained at the school site when enrolling.  

What are my options? 

If you received an assignment:
Register:

  • You have a seat at a school, you can still
  • Participate in the assignment process by submitting an amended application form for your higher-ranked school choices
  • You get to keep your current assignment offer, unless we can offer you a wait pool school

Don’t register:

  • You don’t have a seat at a school yet, you can still
  • Participate in the assignment process by submitting an amended application form for your higher-ranked school choices
If you didn’t receive an assignment:
New Students: Current Students:
  • No space. Stay at current school.
  • Participate in the assignment process by submitting an amended application form for your higher-ranked school choices
