Everett Middle School is a public school located at the border of the vibrant Castro and Mission districts. We serve a diverse student population including newcomers and special day students, and we offer Spanish Immersion instruction and unique enrichment in arts, leadership and civic activism.
Everett’s school vision is that students leave 8th grade on or above grade level and empowered to change the world. To accomplish this, we offer an inclusive school model where, regardless of whether a student is an English learner or has an IEP, they are challenged, supported, and celebrated in the general education classroom. We believe this inclusive model helps students build relationships across difference, which are critical to becoming effective change agents.
We also strive to cultivate strong academic identities in our students. We do this by using standards based grading and giving students frequent feedback about their progress. We also offer small group intervention classes for students who come to Everett below grade level in reading or math.
Everett has a rotating block schedule where students have 80 minute classes for Electives, English Language Arts, History, Math, Physical Education, and Science. Students also have daily Homeroom classes where we focus on socio-emotional learning and community building. Everett is also proud to offer a Newcomer pathway for students to develop their English skills before bridging into a full time general education schedule.
