TK at McLaren

Our TK program is designed to bridge the preschool learning environment with that of the traditional kindergarten classroom. It is taught by multiple subject credentialed teachers who blend preschool and kindergarten instructional practices in order to meet the individual needs of each child.

Fill Out An Application

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is for students who will be turning age 5 between September 2 and April 2 of the school year they wish to enroll (see Age Requirements). TK is offered at select SFUSD Early Education Schools and elementary schools.

Application information for the 2024-2025 school year will appear in October 2023.

Due date for Applications for TK-13th is February 3rd, 2023

Waitlist

It is common for families applying for TK to be placed on a Wait Pool in April after the Round 2 application period closes. John McLaren Early Education School staff do not have access to this list. If you have any questions about the waitlist process please contact the central office Enrollment Center at (415) 241-6085.
