The many teachers and educators at VVES come from diverse backgrounds and are dedicated to serving all the students at our school.

Meet the Kindergarten Team!

Joy Richardson:  Hi, my name is Ms. Richardson.  I teach Kindergarten in Room 12.  I have been teaching for 25 years and at Visitacion Valley for 18 years.  I like to read and I have cat named Chester.

Mary Li: Hi! I am Ms. Li, and I teach kindergarten at VVES.  When I’m not working, I like to watch baseball, read, and take naps.

Monique Williams:  Hi, my name is Ms. Williams.  I am the kindergarten teacher in Room 1.  I have been teaching 19 years here at Visitacion Valley.  When I’m not working, I love spending time with my daughter, reading, learning about space and our universe, and learning new languages.

Meet the First Grade Teachers!

Maureen Wong: Hi, my name is Mrs. Wong. I teach 1st grade. I’ve been teaching since 1996 and this is my 9th year working at Vis Valley.  I love to hang out with my friends, and we help seniors do line dancing on weekends!

Linda Tran: Hi, my name is Ms. Tran and I teach 1st grade. I’ve been teaching for 5 years and at VVES for 3 years. Some of the things I enjoy doing outside of work is checking out different restaurants, visiting festivals, and attending live music concerts.

Michael Dakan: Hi, my name is Mr. Mike. I teach 1st grade. This is my first year at Visitacion Valley. I like to play music and enjoy the outdoors.

Meet the Second Grade Team!

Gregory Gallup: My name is Greg Gallup and I teach 2nd grade. This is my seventeenth year teaching and this is my first year at Vis Valley. In my free time I love to be outside hiking, playing games with my friends, or swimming and kayaking.

Betty Cheung: Hi, I am Ms. Betty! I am a 2nd grade teacher at VVES. This is my 4th year as a teacher and 4th year at Vis.

Jennifer Chieng:  Hi, I'm Ms. Chieng. I teach 2nd grade at Visitacion Valley. I have been teaching for eight years and this is my third year at Visitacion Valley. I enjoy hiking, foodie adventure, and hang out with my family and friends. 

 

Meet the Third Grade Team!

Jeneva Diaz:  Hi, I’m Ms. Diaz! :) I teach 3rd grade here at VVES, and this is my first year in this awesome community! I moved to San Francisco this past July 2021, so I am always looking for new places to explore and eat here in my free time! I also love to go on road trips with my friends to camp and see National Parks. I’ve been to Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, and Crater Lake so far!

Anna Chan: Hi, my name is Ms. Anna. I teach 3rd grade here at VVES. I have been teaching for 8 years, all at Visitacion Valley! I love learning alongside my students. As a lifelong learner, I am learning how to bake, how to swim, and how to be the best teacher I can be!

Cindy Sin-Lee: Hi!  I’m Ms. Sin. I’ve been at VVES for over twenty years teaching second and third grades. Besides work, I enjoy short road trips with family, winding down with Korean soap operas (English Subtitles), and spending time with my siblings’ families.

Meet the Fourth Grade Team!

Katie Lin: Hi, I am Ms. Katie Lin. This is my 5th year teaching at VVES. I teach 4th grade. Doing community service, listening to audio books, and traveling to new places are my favorite things to do! 

Erin Hamson:  Hi! My name is Ms. Hamson. I teach 4th grade at Vis Valley. This is my 4nd year of teaching and 3rd year at Vis Valley. I moved to San Francisco from San Diego where I worked as an engineer. I am very excited to bring science & engineering to my classroom and our school! Rise high stars! 

Evelyn Chan: Hello there! I am Mrs. Chan and I have been a teacher here at VVES for the past 21 years in Grades 3-5. When I am not at work, you can bet I am outside somewhere...running, walking, biking, or hiking. Occasionally, I indulge in a little sitting :).

Meet the Fifth Grade Team!

Hien Nhi Langton:  Hello, I’m Mrs. Langton and I’m a 5th grade teacher here at VVES. This is my first year here and it is such a joy to be a part of the community. My goal is to help students find meaning in their education and help them discover the fun in learning. On my off hours I like to surf and go hiking with my wife and pup! 

Judy Tam:  Hi, my name is Ms. Judy and I teach 5th grade.  This is my 4th year as a teacher at VVES.  When I am not working I like to watch movies, attend my children’s volleyball and baseball games, and draw.   I especially enjoy spending quality time with my family.

Richard Agcamaran: Hi, my name is Mr. Agcamaran. I teach 5th grade. This is my 4th year as a teacher at VVES. Outside of school you can usually find me riding my bike, eating pizza, or hanging out with my dogs Montie and Bruce.

Meet the RSP Team (Resource Specialist Program)!

Lisa Klewicki:   Hi, my name is Lisa Klewicki. I have been teaching since 1996, but this is my first year at Visitacion Valley Elementary School. I am a special education resource specialist and I teach in the fourth and fifth grade classrooms. I have two dogs who love going on walks and to the beach with me.  I also enjoy surfing and going on hikes.

Emilia Rivera:  Hi, my name is Ms. Rivera! This is my first year teaching at VVES and I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful community. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with friends and family, trying different foods and restaurants, attempting to cook, and watching TV shows and movies.

Adrian Bravo:  Hi, my name is Adrian Bravo. I am a third year Paraeducator at Visitacion Valley Elementary School. I work with a third grader. I love what I do. Outside of work, I enjoy eating out, hiking, reading, and church.

Joanna Zheng:  Hi, my name is Joanna Yanhua Zheng. My role is special education paraeducator. I have been teaching for 5 years and at Visitacion Valley for one year. When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking, beach, church and road trips with my loved ones. 

Shirlene Freeman:  My name is Shirlene Freeman and I'm a native of North Carolina. I'm a proud HBCU graduate of North Carolina A&T State University.  I've been with SFUSD since 2019 as a para educator.

Meet the Teacher Specialists!

Librarian - Jennifer O'Sullivan

Hi, my name is Ms. O’Sullivan (you can also call me Ms. O). I teach Library to Kindergarten through 5th Grade. I have been teaching for 5 years and at Visitacion Valley for 3 years. When I’m not having fun in the Library, I can be found knitting on a pair of socks or practicing yoga asana poses.

 Instructional Reform Facilitator - Shirley Duong

Hi, my name is Ms. Shirley, and I am an Instructional Coach. This is my third year at VVES and my fifteenth year in education. Prior to VVES, I was an elementary school teacher for twelve years, and I taught every grade except fifth grade. A fun fact about me is that I was in a Whitney Houston music video.

 Literacy Coach - Kristin Smith

Hi, my name is Kristin Smith and I am a Literacy Coach. I love coaching teachers and doing reading with small groups of students. I have been teaching for 13 years and this is my 2nd year at Visitacion Valley. I’ve taught almost every grade!  In my freetime, I love to be outdoors hiking or at the beach with my dog! A fun fact about me is that I worked at Disney World!

Physical Education Specialist - Jolinko Lassiter

Hi, my name is Coach Lassiter. I teach Kindergarten – 5th Grade Physical Education.  I have been teaching for 10 years and at Visitacion Valley for seven years. I enjoy anything basketball related (playing and coaching), traveling the world, and singing karaoke. 

Education Outside Garden Teacher - Gabriela Judd 

Greetings! The students call me Ms. Gabriela. I am the garden educator at Visitacion Valley and work with all grade level students. It is my first year teaching here at Visitacion Valley and my first year working at an elementary school. Outside of work, you will find me enjoying the sun (or rain) at the top of a mountain peak or welcoming laughter after wholeheartedly trying something new.

Music Teacher - Donald Armistead

Hi my name is Don Armistead. I teach 4th and 5th grade Instrumental Music on Tuesdays. I have been teaching for 21 years, and I’ve been teaching at Visitacion Valley for 10 years. When I’m not teaching I like to, cook, work out, compose Music and play gigs  

Visual Art Teacher - Siegfried Oyales

Hello, I am Siegfried Oyales and the students call me Mr. O.  This is my first year teaching at VVES and my first year living in California.  I hope students gain a sense of arts appreciation and enjoy art class!  In my free time, I love to cook, try new foods, explore the Bay Area, watch anime, and make art/objects.
