Moscone ES School Committees

These committees and groups help Moscone to run effectively. Learn how YOU can get involved.

School Site Council (SSC)

The School Site Council (SSC) is the main governing body of the school comprised of teachers/staff and parents/guardians who work with the Principal to ensure quality education for Moscone students. The primary role of the SSC is to guide the site planning process which ensures that the needs of all students are addressed in the school site plan (SPSA). The SPSA is a living document that highlights the goals for the school and its programs, along with a plan to fund our current priorities.

If you are interested in understanding how budget resources (of Federal, State and District funds) are allocated at Moscone to best support effective teaching and learning, you may be interested in attending our SSC meetings. The SSC is responsible for looking at academic performance data as well as qualitative information about culture and climate in order to inform important site level decisions about staffing and resource allocation. Our mission is to support each and every student to learn, grow and thrive.

English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC)

The English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a group of family, community, and staff members that meet at least once a month to advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners. The committee advises and assists the school principal, staff, and School Site Council (SSC) on the school’s program for English learners and the development of our school site plan (SPSA).

Parent Club

Moscone has an active Parent Club, chaired by Moscone parents. The mission of the Parent Club is to support the educational and enrichment programs for the school.

The Parent Club meets on calendared Fridays to plan activities for our community, including the Parade of Nations, the Moscone Family Potluck Picnic, Read-a-Thon, etc. Parent workshops are also offered at the school site each semester.

We encourage all Moscone families to get involved in Parent Club. Simply come to the cafeteria for a Parent Club meeting to join, or contact our Family Liaison Reyna Vite at vite-aguilarr@sfusd.edu

Parents are informed of events and opportunities to volunteer through the weekly Moscone Newsletter, Friday parent workshops offered by the Parent Liaison, or by inquiring in the Front Office.
