VISION: “SFUSD EED’s social responsibility is to serve as the district’s gateway to lifelong learning so that children find their brilliance”
INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACH: We follow the Creative Curriculum for Preschool. Our teaching strategies prepare all students for kindergarten. Students thrive academically as we align with California Preschool Learning Standards and the SFUSD Core Curriculum in a developmentally appropriate and joyful learning environment.
PRESCHOOL: Our preschool hours are from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Our preschool program offers children the opportunity to socialize with other children, learn more about themselves, learn how to problem solve, build confidence, and much more. Our preschool teachers play an important role in building a child’s success in their first years of school. Teachers do more than facilitate arts and crafts projects throughout the day. They provide structure and help children grow in their reading and writing skills, teach science and help children understand themselves.
TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN: Our TK program is designed to bridge the preschool learning environment with that of the traditional kindergarten classroom. It is taught by multiple subject-credentialed teachers who blend preschool and kindergarten instructional practices in order to meet the individual needs of each child. The instructional day is from 9:30 am - 3:45 pm, Wednesdays 9:30 am - 2:30 pm.
