About Sheridan

Sheridan Mission Statement

At Sheridan elementary school our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing the best primary school education for your children.

Sheridan elementary school serves students from Prekindergarten to 5th grade. Our teachers offer a curriculum-based on California State standards with rigorous use of solution strategies, setting priorities for program improvements, and ongoing monitoring of results. Teachers provide students with daily lessons that stimulate their thinking and allow students to explore the world around them. Our school features a computer lab where or students are allowed to practice their math, language arts, social studies, reading, writing, and project-based learning skills. Additionally, our school has the EXCEL YMCA after school program for students in 1st to 5th grade which offers help with homework as well as enriching activities and experiences such as team sports, dance, music, and art lessons.

Every student will develop their academic, physical, and emotional potential at Sheridan Elementary school. The basic skills of speaking, reading,  writing, and computing will be developed through an academic emphasis in the subject areas. Critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, physical skills, and self-confidence will expand from this base. To accomplish this task we request the full cooperation of the home and will actively seek out assistance from our families, particularly in the areas of homework and daily attendance. Learning will take place in a safe and encouraging atmosphere with a reasonable standard of discipline expected of all students. Sheridan Students will excel.

The Sheridan elementary school staff recognize that parents are fundamental to the education process. We strongly encourage our parents to attend our Parent-Teacher conferences twice a year to appraise their students' progress. Our school has a Parent-Teacher club that meets once a month to discuss school events, fundraisers, and provides opportunities to learn parenting skills from guest speakers. Parents may also volunteer at Sheridan by doing various activities. Parents are always welcome at Sheridan elementary school.
