Welcome New Families

Welcome New Families

Welcome to Alvarado!

Welcome to our Alvarado community!  We look forward to meeting you in person through a variety of special events we are excited to host.  Invitations to these events will be shared as the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) confirms  the plan for our students to return to school.  Please feel free to read the Welcome Letter from our Principal, Ms. Sadja as well as our welcome brochure below.  And, always feel free to email questions to our Manager of Outreach for New Families, at outreach@alvaradoschool.net.

Don’t Forget to Register!

New families are usually asked to register students in person at our school; however, during this unprecedented time, we ask that you follow revised instructions from the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).

Please note: If you do not register your student by the deadline mentioned in your letter, you may lose your assigned spot at Alvarado.

The first day of our upcoming school year is Monday, August 17, 2022. Students who do not attend within the first three days of school will be withdrawn. If you decide to enroll but do not plan to attend, please notify the school (415-695-5695) or contact the SFUSD Educational Placement Center (415-241-6085).

We look forward to staying in touch through: Facebook and Twitter.

Take care.  We look forward to meeting you!

First Days of School

ParentSquare

This is the school wide communication platform that serves as our online forum as well as critical tool for staff, teachers & parents to communicate updates. If you are an Alvarado parent but have not signed up for our electronic directory and communication system, please send an email with your full name, your child’s full name and teacher’s name to communications@alvaradoschool.net, and we’ll get you set up. Cell phone numbers also work.

Room Parents
Within the first two weeks of school, each classroom will have a room parent who will coordinate snacks and tasks. If you are interested in volunteering for this job, please contact our room parent coordinators at room_parent_coordinator@alvaradoschool.net.

Buddy Families

For any incoming families that wish to be connected to an existing Alvarado Buddy Family, please contact us at outreach@alvaradoschool.net.

Mornings
Please remember that school starts promptly at 7:50 a.m. Give yourself enough time to find parking if you plan to join your child on the yard before school begins. We have a community morning circle with announcements and awards on Mondays and Fridays.

Drop Off
If you are dropping off your child, please do so in the white zone along 22nd Street. Do NOT double park or drop your child off in front of school. It causes huge traffic problems, and the police will be looking for violations.

Today’s Donations Benefit Next Year’s Kids

In addition to volunteering, there are many ways to give to Alvarado. Amazon, eBay, Target and eScrip all donate a percentage of your purchase to our school. Some require you to sign up (TargeteScrip), others require you to click a certain link that lets the site know you are associated with Alvarado (AmazoneBay).

Please visit our Giving page to read about the many ways you can contribute to the school.

Equally important, volunteering your time is a huge help to the teachers, the PTA and the students. Please click our Volunteering page to learn more about our committees and how to contact them.
