Positive Attendance & Absences

Reporting an absence - Dial (415) 695-5709

If your student is absent, please call the attendance line (415) 695-5709 or email the Attendance Clerk, Anahi Mendieta at (mendietatzompantzia@sfusd.edu)  and leave a message that includes following information:

  • Student’s Full Name and School

  • Phone number

  • Date of the absence(s) (Month/Day/Year)

  • Email Address

  • Reason for absence

ADDITIONALLY, when your student returns to school, they must bring a note to the Attendance Clerk in the Main Office that includes the following information:

  • Student’s Full Name and School

  • Phone number

  • Date of note

  • Email Address

  • Date of the absence(s) (Month/Day/Year)

  • Parent/Guardian Signature

  • Reason for absence (Note that absences are listed as excused or unexcused. If you are unsure of a valid excuse reason, please refer to the SFUSD Student Handbook)

If a student gets sick at school and needs to go home, they must first go to the Nurse in the Wellness Center (who will call parent/guardian) for a permit to leave.

Family Emergency

IF YOU ARE GOING TO MISS SCHOOL BECAUSE OF A FAMILY TRIP OR EMERGENCY, THERE MUST BE A WRITTEN REQUEST MADE TO THE PRINCIPAL FOR APPROVAL!

For example, if you know you are going to an out of town family reunion and will be absent on a Friday before the weekend, bring a note from home at least TWO WEEKS before the trip so it can be excused and not count as a cut!
