The State of California Education Code Section 48200 requires specific annual minimum instructional minutes offered to a student. We are required to have the following minimum “annual number of instructional minutes" for each grade (180 days):
Kindergarten: 36,000
Grades 1-3: 50,400
Grades 4-5: 54,000
Grades 6-8: 57,525
This annual minimum by grade level translates into an average DAILY MINIMUM number of instructional minutes as follows:
Kindergarten: 200 minutes
Grades 1-3: 280 minutes
Grades 4-5: 300 minutes
