Before School
Students may be dropped off and school opens for breakfast at 7:30 a.m, but there is no formal supervision until school starts at 7:50 a.m.
After School
Sharks Until Dark (SUD) is Sherman’s on-site after school program. The program runs from the end of the school day until 6pm, five days a week, providing a safe and engaging environment for students. SUD offers a wide range of enrichment activities, including: STEM, Arts, Outdoor Education, Cooking, and Social Emotional Learning.

Cost: Sliding scale tuition with scholarship rates available.

Special Education

Sherman Elementary values inclusion and equity in its Special Education programming. We offer three autism-focused special day classes (SDC) for students in grades TK-K, 1-2, and 3-5, with an emphasis on mainstreaming when appropriate. Additionally, our resource specialist program (RSP) supports students who receive special education services within the general education setting.

Arts Enrichment

The arts are a highly valued component of the Sherman experience at every grade level since they serve as a means to reinforce academic content, encourage voice and creative expression, as well as offering students multiple ways to express their cultures and personalities.

We partner with a variety of arts organizations to provide students access to the arts, including the San Francisco Symphony AIMS program, the San Francisco Ballet, SF ARTs Program, SFUSD's Visual and Performing Arts Program (for visual art and instrumental music), Hip-Hop dance classes, and lunchtime dance clubs.

Social-Emotional and Culture Climate Report

SFUSD annually surveys families and school staff on a range of school climate indicators that have been found to predict positive student academic achievement. The social-emotional learning of students in grades 4-12 is also assessed.
