Academy Afterschool Program - THE WOLFPACK

YMCA Urban Services Afterschool Program (4:00-5:30pm)

The Academy Afterschool Program (Wolfpack) is a partnership between The Academy SF and YMCA Urban Services

The Wolfpack seeks to foster high academic achievement in its students, in addition to promoting healthy living and personal development through the arts. The role of the Team Leader is that of a facilitator.  By offering individual support to students with their homework and coursework.

Program Outline

Online Learning: (Monday and Wednesday in the Library + Tuesday in the Wolfden (RM 128)

  • To provide a rich academic experience for students making up or taking extra courses for high school credit. Offering one-on-one and group discussion and suggesting outside reading as a way of supplementing the online course material

  • To achieve a 100% course completion rate for enrolled students.

  •  Each 11th & 12th grader is given the opportunity to complete courses to obtain a HS diploma.

Supper Meal offering (every day after school)

The supper program is a federally funded program that offers a balanced meal after school in the Wolfden RM.128.  Any youth under the age of 18 can receive a meal at no cost on a first-come, first-serve basis regardless of household income or enrollment in afterschool programs.  

  • There are vegan options as well.

Open Rec (TBD)

Dates are posted outside of the Wolfden

  • To provide a place where the youth could get active through exercise and fitness activities

 Graffiti/Art/ Self Expression Class:(Monday & Wednesday 4:00 - 5:30 pm)

  • This activity gives an opportunity for the youth to express themselves with the support of our Art specialist Eric Nodora.

  • Allows the students to use their creativity and find an outlet of expression

  • Self expression

  • Rap

  • Free Spoken Word

  • Free writing

Mentoring/Tutoring the Academy Athletes: (All Week 4:00 - 5:00 pm)

  • Keep Academy athletes grades on check with weekly progress reports

  • One on one check in’s with teachers and counselors with the support of the ASP coordinator Hazel Cartalla

  • Check in’s with Academy Athletic Director

  • Student-Athletes are recommended to attend tutoring in the library before Activity or practice.
