New to McCoppin, Fall 2022

WELCOME to Frank McCoppin Elementary School, home of the Dragons!

We're excited to welcome new families to our community, and are looking forward to meeting you and sharing information about our great school.

The PTO is hosting a TK/K/New Student Orientation on Monday, 8/15/22, from 3-4pm.(Due to scheduling conflicts we were unable to have this on the weekend.) It will take place in-person at Frank McCoppin (please use the 7th Ave entrance, masking encouraged). All new incoming families are welcome. Visit the schoolyard, check out your classroom, and get a feel for things before the first day of school. Please email to RSVP and with any questions.

If your student is starting school at Frank McCoppin Elementary in the fall of 2022, here are steps to take to connect with the school and the PTO:

Sign up with ParentSquare. The best way to stay-up-to-date with all things McCoppin is to provide the PTO with your contact information over the summer at so that we may invite you to ParentSquare, our school-wide communication tool. You may activate your ParentSquare account in August.

ParentSquare is a communication app/website designed to keep parents informed and facilitate participation at school. It provides a safe way for our principal Mr Lee, teachers, staff, and parents to send and receive school and class information, share pictures and files, see calendar items, and more. Learn more in the ParentSquare section here on our website (about/parentsquare).

Join our Facebook group(s). The Frank McCoppin Elementary School Parents group is a social community for parents of students at the school. Our goal is to relay pertinent information and to get to know each other. There's also:

Keep an eye out for your ParentVUE activation key, which will arrive in the mail from the San Francisco Unified School District. When it arrives, you'll use that key to active your ParentVUE account. ParentVUE is SFUSD's secure family portal, where you can privately access student information such as grades and attendance. Its different from ParentSquare (you should sign up for both). Learn more in the ParentVUE section of this website (about/parentvue).

Don't hesitate to contact the PTO if you have any questions. We don't have specific details about what school in the fall will look like (those updates will come from the school district and Principal Lee). But we can answer questions about after school programs, school lunch, what to pack in your Kindergartner's backpack, etc. Our email is address is; we check email even during summer vacation. If we don't know the answer to your question, we can help find it, or direct you to the right person.
