Independence High School Media Arts partners with KQED Youth Takeover, PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs, KGO-TV ABC7 and others...
KQED Youth Takeover and the KQED Youth Media Challenge provide opportunities for our students to get advice and support from industry professionals and a platform for publishing student content. Several Independence students who have participated in our Media Arts program have been featured on KQED radio.
Independence High School is currently the only school in San Francisco partnered with the PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs. One of our student reporters appeared briefly on national television during an election special and another was featured on a PBS website with a commentary on artificial intelligence.
We are also proud to announce that one of our students was selected to participate on the PBS NewsHour Student Advisory Team, only a handful of students in the United States are members.
