New Students: Tips for the First Day of School Link to this section

  • Classroom assignments: Those are posted on the front door of the school the week before start of the new school year.
  • School Materials: You don't need anything specific for the first day. Your classroom teacher will let you know what belongs in your kid's backpack, such as folders, pencils and erasers.
  • Arrival: We encourage families to walk to school and get there early, as there is limited parking. All grades enter the schoolyard at the 17th Ave gates, at the corner of Cabrillo. If you have to drive to school, please use Stop, Drop & Go.
  • Dismissal: Kindergarten parents/guardians will wait at the Kindergarten Yard entrance on 18th Ave for pick-up. TK and all other grades will get picked up from the 17th Ave gates.
  • Morning Clap-in: Every Monday and Friday, we begin the day on the yard with our Morning Clap-In (i.e. an all-school assembly) at 7:50am. All families are welcome to stay for clap-in. During the first week of school, we will host Morning Clap-In every day.
  • Coffee Klatch: On the First Friday of every month, except when school is not in session, all Argonne parents & caregivers are invited to enjoy free coffee after morning clap-in.
  • School Lunch: School lunch and breakfast is free for all, but your child can bring a lunch if that is preferred.
  • Back to School Night: On Back to School Night, you'll learn everything about your child's teacher and the upcoming school year.
