Student Absence - Not Attending School - When students return to school after an absence they will bring a note (from a parent/guardian) to the attendance office, with the following information:

• Student (full) Name
• Date(s) student was absent
• Reason for the absence
• Parent/Guardian name
• Parent/Guardian phone number

Permit to Leave - Leaving School Early - If a student leaves school early for any reason they need a note from a parent/guardian excusing them.  Students bring a note to the main office the day they are leaving early and receive a Permit to Leave.  Notes should include:

• Student (full) Name
• Date and time the student needs to leave
• Reason the student is leaving
• Parent/Guardian name
• Parent/Guardian phone number

Student Government is a student-led class that gives students the opportunity to take an active role in building our school community. Students work together to plan, organize, and run school-wide events, activities, and traditions while developing leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Student Government helps create opportunities for students across Ruth Asawa SOTA’s diverse arts and academic programs to connect, participate, and build a stronger sense of belonging. From Spirit Week and school dances to community-building events and other school traditions, Student Government students are involved in bringing ideas to life from planning through execution.

Student Government is a class for credit, not a club. Students earn a grade based on attendance, participation, organization, and their contributions to planning and running events. Membership requires students to meet school eligibility and attendance expectations and to be active, responsible members of the RASOTA community.
