On the week of October 2, teachers will receive pre-populated Google forms for eligible English Learner (EL) students who have met two of the four criteria for reclassification. Site leaders and EL coordinators will receive the full list of eligible ELs at their site.
The eligible students need to meet the remaining criteria of teacher evaluation and parent consultation to complete the process and reclassify. Parents/guardians will be sent notification of reclassification eligibility via ParentVUE (or by mail for those without ParentVUE access) by our office.
Your next steps are to ensure that in the next two months, the teacher or another school staff consults with the student's family about the student's readiness for reclassification. Teacher evaluation and parent consultation are final steps to reclassify any eligible English learner. These steps must be documented on the pre-populated form that will be sent out to the ELD/ELA teacher in the first week of October.
Reclassification forms are due November 17.
The Round 1 eligibility list (Illuminate report) will be published on October 2. This report will update weekly from 10/2 to 11/17 so that you can track the statuses of students who are eligible for reclassification. If you have any general questions about the reclassification process and procedures, see our district website.
