To encourage student stewardship and reduce property loss, SFUSD is introducing a standardized Chromebook chargeback process for lost or willfully damaged devices. School leaders have the discretion to waive fees or offer community service alternatives for families unable to pay, and are provided with a toolkit—including parent letter templates and Help Desk support—to implement the policy.
