December 4-15, 2017 - Hour of Code
Jefferson students can do computer coding! Hour of Code originally started as an hour-long intro to computer programming, designed to show students that everyone can code and to expose them to the field of computer science. The Hour of Code officially happened around the globe during the first week in December, but Jefferson librarian Sarah Cahuas extended the event to two weeks so that every student, from kindergarten through 5th grade, could participate. A Jefferson parent spoke to some of the students about his career in computer science and said that there are currently more computer programming jobs than people to fill them, a need that is expected to grow in the coming years.
To try some of the Hour of Code games Jefferson students played, visit code.org or kodable.com.

Park at Jefferson for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass! We're one of the few pay lots close to the festival, our parking lot is completely fenced in, we monitor the entrance and exit from opening to closing, you can park and lock your car - and won't it be nice to just drive away at the end of the day and not have to deal with the crowds!
Enter the parking lot through the 18th Avenue gate between Irving and Judah. We're open Saturday, October 7, and Sunday, October 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The price is $35 cash per car per day. You don't have to pay a cent for festival admission. Why not spend that money on some really high-quality parking!
Final closing is 8:30 p.m. daily. Unclaimed cars will be towed at the owner's expense. Or driven home by untrained but eager elementary school students.
