Introduction
SFUSD will open Mission Bay Elementary School in August 2026, providing neighborhood school capacity in one of the city’s fastest growing areas. The new school is integral to rapid housing plans along San Francisco’s East Side, where families now residing in SoMa, Mission Bay, and the Potrero Hill neighborhood face some of the steepest competition in the city for seats intended for neighborhood residents.
