MLK MS Winter Music and Art Show

On Thursday December 11th at 5:30pm, MLK's Art Classes and Cobra Band will be hosting MLK MS Winter Music and Art Show! Students in Art will be displaying artwork from the Fall semester. Students in Cobra Band will be performing for the night. Students of Art and Cobra Band are encouraged to invite friends and family to attend.

Winter Wonderland Dance

On Friday December 12th from 4:30-6pm, MLK MS will be holding a Winter Wonderland Dance. This is a student only event. Please note the following information: 

Tickets

Tickets are being sold during lunch or right after school (213). 

12/1-12/5 Tickets are $5

12/8-12/9 Tickets are $7

Student Rules

1. Students must arrive between 4:30-4:45

2. Students must have their ticket

3. Students must be dressed according to school dress code, including no visible undergarments or midriffs

4. Once entered, students will not be able to exit and enter the dance again

5. Students must be eligible

6. Violating our school norms will call for an immediate removal ( ie, Physical violence or threatening language towards another student)

7. Students must leave campus by 6:10

No Electic Scooters

Please note, students are not allowed to ride and bring Electric Scooters to school. California Vehicle Code 21235 requires Electric Scooter riders be at least 16 years old and must have a valid driver’s license or instruction permit. Please do not allow your children to ride an electric scooter to school. Thank you for your support!

Incident at Burton HS, MLK MS response

Dear MLK Community, 

I want to let you know that due to an incident at Burton High School, our school briefly entered into a Secure protocol at approximately 12:45pm out of an abundance of caution. A secure protocol is when the exterior doors remain locked and situational awareness is increased.

At 1:00pm, shortly after entering into a Secure protocol, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) gave us the all clear and we lifted the Secure Protocol. Everyone is safe, the school day is continuing as scheduled, and dismissal will move forward as usual.

The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. If an emergency does occur at a school, we will notify parents as quickly as possible via text, email and/or a phone call. In order to receive urgent messages in as many ways as possible, your child’s school and SFUSD must have your current contact information. Update your information on ParentVUE and learn more about SFUSD’s safety and emergency plans.

Semester Grading Period Ending

The semester grading period ends 12/19/2025. If your child is missing work, remind them to check with their teachers to see if they need to turn in any work. 

Student Led Conferences

Thank you all families for attending Student Led Conference. Over 80% of our students held a conference. 

If you were unable to hold a Student Led Conference this week, please contact the teacher to schedule a Student Led Conference. All students must hold a meeting with their parents/guardians and teachers. 8th Grade students must hold this meeting, otherwise they are unable to attend the graduation ceremony.

Estimadas Padres de Familias de MLK:

Festival Invernal  de Música y Arte 

El jueves 11 de diciembre a las 5:30 p. m., las clases de arte de MLK y la Banda Cobra presentarán el Espectáculo de Festival Invernal  de Música y Arte. Los estudiantes de Arte exhibirán obras de arte del semestre de otoño. Los estudiantes de la Banda Cobra se presentarán esa noche. Se anima a los estudiantes de Arte y la Banda Cobra a invitar a sus amigos y familiares.

Baile de las Maravillas Invernales

El viernes 12 de diciembre, de 4:30PM a 6:00PM., la Escuela Secundaria MLK ofrecerá un Baile de las Maravillas Invernales. Este evento es exclusivo para estudiantes. Tenga en cuenta la siguiente información:

Boletos

Los boletos se venden durante el almuerzo o justo después de clases (213).

1-5 de diciembre: Boletos $5

8-9 de diciembre: Boletos $7

Reglas para estudiantes

1. Los estudiantes deben llegar entre las 4:30 y las 4:45

2. Los estudiantes deben tener su boleto

3. Los estudiantes deben vestir de acuerdo con el código de vestimenta de la escuela, lo que incluye no mostrar ropa interior ni abdomen visible

No se permiten patinetas eléctricas

Tenga en cuenta que los estudiantes no pueden conducir ni traer patinetas eléctricas a la escuela. El Código de Vehículos de California 21235 exige que quienes conducen patinetas eléctricas tengan al menos 16 años y una licencia de conducir o permiso de aprendizaje válido. No permita que sus hijos conduzcan patinetas eléctricas a la escuela. ¡Gracias por su apoyo!

La seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal es nuestra prioridad principal. Si ocurre una emergencia en una escuela, notificaremos a los padres lo antes posible por mensaje de texto, correo electrónico o llamada telefónica. Para recibir mensajes urgentes de la mayor cantidad posible de maneras, la escuela de su hijo/a y el SFUSD deben tener su información de contacto actualizada. Actualice su información en ParentVUE y obtenga más información sobre los planes de seguridad y emergencia del SFUSD.

Finalización del período de calificaciones

El primer período de calificaciones termina el 19 de Diciembre de 2025. Si su hijo falta al trabajo, recuérdele que consulte con sus maestros para ver si necesita entregar algún trabajo.

Conferencias dirigidas por estudiantes

Gracias a todas las familias por asistir a la Conferencia Dirigida por Estudiantes. Más del 80% de nuestros estudiantes asistieron a una conferencia.

Si no pudo realizar una conferencia dirigida por estudiantes esta semana, comuníquese con el maestro para programar una conferencia dirigida por estudiantes. Todos los estudiantes deben tener una reunión con sus padres/tutores y maestros. Los estudiantes de 8º grado deben realizar esta reunión, de lo contrario no podrán asistir a la ceremonia de graduación. 

Nuevo sistema telefónico
