Morning School Entry Procedures

The front gate of the school will open for students at 8:45am daily. Once students arrive at the front of the school, they are not to leave MLK for safety reasons. 

School start at 9:25AM and classes start at 9:30AM. Students must be in class by 9:30AM, arriving after 9:30AM, student will be tardy. Please encourage your child to sleep early and be ready for school.

Welcome to the MLK Community Market!​

We are thrilled to announce that our grocery store​, MLK Community Market, will be opening soon to serve our school community.​ This resource is exclusively for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Academic Middle School families and registration is required. This is intended to be a supplementary food source to complement your current groceries, not to serve as a primary food bank or pantry.

To ensure that we can fulfill our mission and serve those with the greatest need, we are asking families to complete this form.​ We currently have limited funding and space, which allows us to provide a set number of grocery trips each month. We respectfully ask that you only submit this form if this resource would be a necessary support for your family at this time. If your family's situation changes and you no longer need our services, please let us know so we can make that space available for another family.​

Please note that after you fill out this form, you will receive an email for further information. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us create a strong, supportive community. We look forward to serving you.

FILL OUT THE Multipurpose Family Income Form 

We are at 70% 80%! We need to reach 90+% for continued funding. All meals are free this school year but your Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) form is still requested to support school funding! HELP MLK lunch funding by filling out the form! This form assist with informing the district and the state of California the needs of MLK MS. This form assisted with MLK MS receiving the Community School Grant, adding $250,000 per year, as well as Title 1 Funding at $108,000 per year. In the past few years, students qualifying for free or reduced lunch during the school year also got $120 for summer EBT. 

School Reorganization: Fall 2026 Family Input Survey

San Francisco Unified School District is changing how students are assigned to elementary schools. The new system would start in August 2028. 

No boundaries have been drawn, and no school is being closed because of this survey. The Board has not yet chosen a plan. Staff will report what families say publicly in October to help the Board give direction.

Input will be reviewed weekly and synthesized for sharing with district leadership and the Board. Answers sent to the district may be public records under California law. Student Planners

MLK MS has given every student a student planner. Students are writing their assignments into the student planners. Please check your child’s planner and see what homework needs to be complete.

Nos complace anunciar que, el Mercado Comunitario MLK, abrirá pronto para servir a nuestra comunidad escolar. Este recurso es exclusivo para las familias de la Escuela Secundaria Académica Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. y es necesario registrarse. Su propósito es complementar sus compras actuales de alimentos, no servir como un banco de alimentos o despensa principal.

Procedimientos de entrada matutina a la escuela

¡Estamos al 70% 80%! Necesitamos alcanzar más del 90% para seguir recibiendo financiación. Reorganización escolar: Encuesta de opinión a las familias para el otoño de 2026

No se han establecido límites ni se va a cerrar ninguna escuela a raíz de esta encuesta. La Junta aún no ha elegido ningún plan. El personal informará públicamente en octubre sobre las opiniones de las familias para ayudar a la Junta a tomar una decisión.
