Back to School Night this Thursday; no more hotspots

Back to School Night will take place at DHS on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 5:30 - 7:00pm.  

Families / parents / guardians / caregivers:  please join us on Thursday to learn more about what your student will experience this year at Downtown High School.  Meet the teachers and support providers!  Dinner provided!

 

SFUSD is No Longer Providing Hotspots to Students

Please be advised that student hotspots previously provided by the San Francisco Unified School District will not be provided this school year. 

These hotspots were a temporary solution to keep SFUSD students connected to learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding the last two years was provided through the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF). On May 11th, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) declared the end of COVID-19 as a public health emergency and as a result, ECF funding for hotspots was not extended by the federal government. SFUSD’s access to this funding is ending in September 2023. 

Hotspots that are currently checked out to students will remain active through September 30, 2023. After that date, they will be disconnected and cease to function. Students with hotspots, need to return them to their school by the end of October 2023.

Any Family in need of home Internet connectivity should visit getacp.org to learn more and apply for services through the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a long term program administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). With the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program, families can save on their bill and may be able to get high-speed Internet for free!

Paper applications are available in both English and Spanish. Families are responsible for mailing their completed application to the address listed on the application.
