Hello Lafayette Community,

We hope you are having a good week so far.  We know that many of our students are excited about Halloween coming up this weekend and also know that many classrooms have special activities planned, including dressing up in costumes.  We know this is late notice, but we want to hold a virtual costume “parade” by showcasing everyone’s costumes during the afternoon of October 30.  Please submit a photo of your child or family in costume by adding it to the Halloween Parade Photo Submission Form by Friday October 30th by 10:00 AM in order to be included in the “parade”.  The virtual parade will begin at 12:00 and a link will be shared on the Lafayette website or use this link.  Participation is optional. If you add late submissions, we will add them to the slideshow to display on Monday before the announcements.

There have been a lot of questions based about our school reopening since the City has been moved to the “yellow” tier.  The information I am receiving is being shared by the district through a dashboard that I am including here.  Please bookmark the link for the most up to date information that is coming from the district.  This will be the most accurate information which I will continue to pass along as I receive it.

November 16-20th will be parent-teacher conference week.  Our goal is to meet with each family about your child’s progress.  Your teacher will be reaching out to you soon with a schedule, in order for you to sign up for a conference.  During conference week, teachers will be adjusting their daily instructional schedules to maximize their accessibility for conferences.

During these conferences, your child’s teacher will detail your child’s academic progress during the first trimester of Distance Learning.  They will only be reporting on and discussing progress on the standards that they have covered and can assess up to this point.

I want to continue to emphasize the importance of daily attendance, punctuality and completing assigned work.  We understand distance learning is difficult, but we use daily attendance, work completion and ongoing assessments as our means to track student progress.  Keep working hard to stay on top of your assignments.

We hope you continue to have a great week!

Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Go Dolphins!
