Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Student Sign-In

Q: What is Clever?

A: Clever is SFUSD's single sign-on (SSO) method for all students.  K-2 students can sign in with the Clever badge and 3rd-5th graders can sign in with their Google logins.

For more information, please see Parents' Guide to the SFUSD Digital Backpack

Q: Do I need a Zoom account to join the class meeting?

A: No, you do not need to create a Zoom account to join your class meeting. Students need to first sign in to their SFUSD Google accounts. After that, click on the Zoom meeting link from the teacher and choose "Sign in with Google" to link the SFUSD and Zoom accounts.

Q: I cannot install Zoom on the school Chromebook. What do I do? (UPDATED)

A: There is no need to install Zoom on the school Chromebook because it has been preinstalled for all SFUSD accounts already.

After the latest updates from the district, ALL students must sign in with their SFUSD Gmail address and password. Parents will NOT be able to sign in to their personal accounts to open the Zoom meeting link on the school Chromebook.

K-1 students will then go to Clever and click on the Zoom meeting link from their teachers.

2-5 students will then go to Google Classroom and click on the Zoom meeting link from their teachers.

K-2 Parents: If you do not know your child's SFUSD Gmail username and password, you are now able to find their username and password through ParentVUE: portal.sfusd.edu [click on Student Info/Accept Offer tab]. If you need help accessing your ParentVUE account, you can submit a request via bit.ly/familyportalhelp.
