Ms. Sarah - teacher of the month from 826 Valencia

"At Flynn Elementary, Maestra Sarah creates a warm and joyful learning environment that is simply inspiring. Her dedication to building strong phonics foundations means her students, including many English language learners in the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Spanish program, are ready for first grade and beyond. She makes learning fun by incorporating movement and songs into her lessons."

A note from Nurse Jackie:  Link to this section

Every year, SFUSD provides state-mandated hearing and vision screening for:

  • ALL students in 1st and 4th grades

  • any student for whom there is a learning concern, or suspicion of vision or hearing difficulties

  • students who will have an initial or triennial IEP (Individualized Education Program) meeting this school year

Flynn Elementary will be conducting this mandated hearing and vision screening on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. School District Nurses, with the assistance of Health Workers from the Student and Family Services Division of SFUSD, will be conducting the screening. If your child is already under the care of a physician for vision or hearing deficits, OR you would like to opt out of this mandated screening, please let the teacher know in writing. If your child does not pass the screening, you will receive a letter with the results and instructions on next steps. If your child passes the screening, you will not receive a letter.
