Meet our ChapterOne Tutors! Link to this section
Through the SF ED Fund, Flynn is fortunate to partner with ChapterOne, a high impact tutoring program focused on foundational reading skills. ChapterOne serves about 180 Flynn students - all 2nd-4th classes + English K/1 classes.
Our ChapterOne tutors come with experience and have been wonderful contributions to our community. Meet Lillie (began Aug 2025) and Nicole (began Jan 2026)! Flynn will be welcoming one more tutor this week - we'll send her bio soon!
“Lillie has been a Chapter One tutor in San Francisco for one year now, and loves having the chance to work creatively and adapt to students learning styles in the 1:1 role. She studied Hispanic Linguistics and Bilingualism and is passionate about dedicating her career to supporting bilingual education access in the U.S..”
I have always been passionate about reading, writing, and literacy and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in English Literature. I later taught First-Year Composition courses at, and received my Master's degree in English and Media Studies from, Rutgers University-Camden with an emphasis on Children's Literature and Childhood Studies. I have previously worked as an Early Literacy Tutor at Laurel Elementary in Oakland and ran the Springboard Accelerator first grade program to provide family outreach workshops that promote at-home reading skills.
