Applications for Shirley Chisholm Village are available through February 3rd at 5:00pm on DAHLIA, the San Francisco Housing Portal. If you applied for housing in a previous lottery, you will need to submit an application in order to secure a spot on the waitlist.

There are 5 available units and 200 open waitlist spots! Once lottery winners fill all available units, additional lottery winners will be placed on the waitlist. As residents move out of the units, households on the waitlist will be contacted in lottery rank order by MidPen Housing, the property manager.

Shirley Chisholm Village provides 134 affordable rental units for families and individuals in San Francisco and prioritizes San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) educators, other SFUSD district employees, and applicable San Francisco Housing Preferences.

Timeline

  • Applications for housing will be accepted from: Tuesday, January 20 through Tuesday, February 3 at 5:00 pm. 

How to Apply

  • Apply on DAHLIA, the San Francisco Housing Portal. SFUSD employees will receive priority. 

How to Find my Job Code

  • In order to receive the SFUSD employee preference you will need to enter your job code.
  • The job code title is included on your paystub.
  • Job code titles and corresponding job codes are available for reference.
  • If you have multiple job codes only one will appear on your paystub. The job code title that is defined as SFUSD Educator (if there is one) should be used as it will receive Tier 1 Priority.
  • Detailed definitions for SFUSD educators and employees are available on page 24 of the Resident Selection Criteria (page 30 of the PDF).
  • Employees with multiple job codes can email housing@sfusd.edu to confirm their job code titles. 

Who Needs to Apply

  • Any SFUSD employee interested in housing at Shirley Chisholm Village should submit an application to secure a spot on the waitlist.
  • If you submitted an application in a previous lottery, you need to submit a new application to be added to the waitlist.

Lottery Updates

A virtual lottery (not in person) will be held on 02/24/2026 at 11:00am. Please check the DAHLIA listing for a link to the virtual lottery on February 24th. 

After the lottery, you should be able to log into your DAHLIA account to see your randomly-generated lottery ranking. Subsequent to the lottery, leasing agents from MidPen Housing will be contacting applicants by order of lottery ranking to fill any vacant units. The MidPen leasing team will contact applicants using the contact information provided in applications submitted on DAHLIA. Applicants that remain on the wait list will be contacted in lottery rank order by MidPen Housing as residents move out of the units.
