Attendance Challenge -  Round 2 Starts (4/27 - 5/7) 

• Round 2 runs for two weeks, 4/27–5/7, with Prize Day on Friday, 5/8.
• This is a fresh start — all students are eligible again & the Prizes are Chips + Capri Sun
• How Students Can Qualify
  • No more than 1 unexcused absence per week 
  • No more than 3 tardies per week 
• How Families Can Help 
  • Set a morning routine so your student leaves on time 
  • Make sure they get enough sleep each night 
  • For an excused absence, please read through & follow our attendance procedure

Teacher Appreciation Week - Tuesday - Friday, May 4 - May 8 

• This Week Monday - Friday (May 4 - 8) is Teacher Appreciation Week! To show our gratitude for the incredible teachers and staff at our school, we’ll be hosting light breakfasts or lunches from Tuesday through Friday (May 5–8). There are a couple of ways you can help make this celebration special: 
• Donate $5 to support the event:

  • Donations can be dropped off at the Main Office (Ms. Melissa) or Room 103 (Ms. Yongqi) 
  • Please label envelopes with your child's name, grade, and label it "Teachers Appreciation Week."

• Sign up to bring an item AND/OR volunteer to prepare breakfast or lunch using our sign-up sheet. Below are some ideas of what you can bring 
  • Breakfast items (Tuesday, Thursday): Fruits, bagels, yogurt, juice, coffee, pastries, etc.
  • Lunch Items (Wednesday): Any dish (rice, noodles, salads, etc.) or volunteer to prepare lunch 
  • Hot breakfast (Friday): Oatmeal, bacon, egg, sausage, hash brown, porridge, etc. OR volunteer to prepare breakfast 
• Please bring breakfast/lunch items to Room 103 during the following times:
  • 8:30–9:30 AM (Tuesday–Friday)
  • 10:30–11:30 AM (Wednesday only)

• Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate our wonderful teachers and staff! We appreciate all your support in making this upcoming Teachers Appreciation Week extra special to finish the school year strong! 

Presidio Tunnel Tops Family Field Trip - Saturday, May 23rd, 2026

• We’re partnering with Presidio Trust for a fun Family Field Trip at Presidio Tunnel Tops on Sat, 5/23 from 10:00 - 2:00 PM! This is a great opportunity to hang out, enjoy activities, and snacks with students, families, and staff. Please bring your own lunch!
• Free bus transportation provided up to 40 people (max 5 per family). Meet in front of Francisco Middle School, or meet us directly at Presidio Tunnel Tops.

Our Heritage 5K - May 9, 2026

• Time: 10am - 2pm 
• Location: Japantown to Chinatown (Starting location: 1707 Buchanan St)
• FREE, family-friendly walk/run celebrating AAPI Heritage Month.
• Hosted by Asians Are Strong, this community event features a scenic route, cultural performances, AAPI games, AAPI candies and more. Finisher medals available this year!

FMS Positive Rewards & Restorative Disciplinary Processes

This document outlines what happens when students make good choices, and what happens when/if they don’t make good choices. It also outlines how we restore harm when it’s  been done.

For the safety of your child and the pedestrian traffic we have, DO NOT:

• Pick up your child in front of the school gate.  We must keep the loading lane clear for SFUSD Special Education buses.
• Double park on the school’s surrounding streets, Francisco, Powell, Stockton or Chestnut streets.

Tips for positive attendance

Here are updates you need to know:

1. Update your contact information: sfusd.edu/contactinfo to ensure you receive school and district notifications.
2. Complete your Emergency Card Form online for school year 24/25. If you completed this before June 30, you need to submit a new form. Please visit sfusd.edu/emergencycard for more information.
3. Complete Acknowledgements for school year 24/25. For more information, visit sfusd.edu/acknowledgements. 
4. You can now report FULL DAY absences in Parentvue! To learn how to report full day absences in ParentVUE, you can view video instructions and instructions on how to submit full day absences on desktop or the mobile ParentVUE app. 

If you forgot your password, click  the “Forgot Password” link and enter your email address to receive instructions on how to reset your password. Contact your school site to get an activation key and visit sfusd.edu/parentvue for more information on your account.

PARENTVUE & STUDENTVUE UPDATES

• All Emergency Contact Information for your child can be entered through ParentVue, ensuring we have this information is essential to help us quickly connect your child with family and guardians in the event of an emergency. Please complete the online Emergency Contact Form now. 
• All families must complete the Multipurpose Family Income Form. This form is vital to ensure school funding. Completing it helps our school and provides your family with access to discounted utilities, afterschool programs, and other benefits. Please take a few minutes to complete this form now.

The Beacon program at Francisco supports students with programming during the school and before and after school.  Students must be registered in order to  participate in before and after school programming. The registration form includes the multipurpose income form. FMS asks ALL families to do this, whatever their income. It provides important information for the school.

FMS is a phone free school.  This means students are expected to use their assigned phone pouch every day.  Pouches remain with students.
