FREE 1:1 TUTORING

SFUSD is using Wyzant to supplement what your child is learning in school.

 

Your child has access to this tutoring service where they can find the help they need, in any subject, at any time!

As the largest and most widely used tutoring service in the US, Wyzant helps students get the results that matter.

 

Your child should have already received their log-in information from school! If they’ve lost

their log-in or if you’re interested in learning how to schedule a tutoring session for your child, please contact the Wyzant support team at success@wyzant.com.

PTO is in charge of fundraising to supplement the school celebrations, teacher appreciations, and other needs. This group of parents and family members works with Francisco staff and Beacon to create community events.  

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL (SSC)

NEXT MEETING:

2/26/2024

5:15 PM via Zoom

The SSC is responsible for the development of the Academic Plan and overall school site budget, including any categorical funds. The council meets monthly to review the SFUSD Strategic Plan, review and analyze student data, solicit community input and develop a needs assessment, assist the principal in developing the SPSA and School Site Budget and monitor the implementation of the SPSA on an ongoing basis. 

ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ELAC)

The purpose of the ELAC is to advise the principal, SSC and school staff on programs and services for English learners. Parents of English learners (ELs) together with other parents, staff and community members meet to learn about services and programs for English learners and offer advice to improve the education of ELs at our school.

Daly City’s 2nd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration 2/1/2025

Welcome to Daly City’s 2nd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration!

Come join us for a day filled with cultural performancesdelicious food, and fun activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The event will be held at 333 90th St, Daly City on February 1, 2025.

Experience the vibrant traditions of the Lunar New Year with special performances, traditional music, and more. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the festive atmosphere and immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the holiday.

Parks Conservancy “Fungus Fair” 2025 at Presidio Tunnel Tops (SF) 2/1/2025 10am - 2pm

Location: By the stairs outside the Field Station at Presidio Tunnel Tops in the Presidio of San Francisco

Join us outside the Field Station at Presidio Tunnel Tops for the Parks Conservancy Fungus Fair to explore the weird and wonderful world of fungus! Learn the process of how mushrooms grow, how to identify them in the wild, and what ecologists have been learning about fungus in the park. We’ll also have face-painting, spore prints, mushroom snacks, and other fun activities for all ages.

Lunar New Year Celebration

Join us at Francisco Middle School to celebrate the Year of the Snake! Enjoy an evening of music, performances, delicious dinner, exciting raffles, and more. All are welcome! Special RAMS tickets will be given to those who attend, volunteer, and/or perform. If you're interested in performing, please connect with Ms. Yongqi or Ms. Romero in Room 124.

Basketball Jamboree

2/8/2025

This basketball tournament was started by retired Francisco Middle School Principal Kenny Lee. Kenny wanted to create a basketball tournament that was reminiscent of his childhood days growing up in SF Chinatown. This event also showcases the adult alumni who lend their support and volunteer their time as referees and provide support to this next generation of our youth. Bring your friends and family to this exciting Lunar New Year Basketball Jamboree!

Chinese New Year Parade

2/15/2025

Named one of the top ten Parades in the world by International Festivals & Events Association and USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice award, the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco is one of the few remaining night illuminated Parades in North America and the biggest parade celebrating the lunar new year outside of Asia.

2025 Community Street Fair

Grant Ave. between California to Broadway

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of San Francisco’s exhilarating Chinatown during one of the community’s most exciting times of the year. You will find over 120 booths and concessions making this a shopper’s paradise. The SF Chinese Chamber of Commerce has activities and entertainment for all ages. Enjoy Chinese folk dancing, opera, drumming and much more at the entertainment stage on Pacific St. below Grant Ave. Make sure to get a family photo with the giant puppets, dragon and other memorable artifacts from the Parade!

Summer Resource Fair

Looking for summer activities for your kids? The San Francisco Summer Resource Fair has you covered! Join us on Saturday, February 22 at the County Fair Building (1199 9th Avenue) to explore an incredible variety of camps, programs, and activities for children and youth in grades K-8.

This free event offers something for everyone: sports, arts, STEM, overnight camps, academic enrichment, and more. Meet program representatives, ask questions, and learn how to register  for activities that will make this summer unforgettable.

Advocating for Your Black Child

 

A Class for Black Caregivers of Black Youth

Advocating for Your Black Child (A4YBC) is a free, 8-week psycho-education series held online for Black parents and caregivers of Black children & youth living with Mental Health, Neurological and/or Learning Differences. Offered in a virtual group setting so that you can safely and confidently connect with other Black Parents.

 

The A4YBC curriculum provides a wealth of practical resources. It was designed specifically to support the Black family in navigating school, political, and social systems for your child. The course is taught by licensed clinicians, physicians, other health professionals, and instructors with lived experiences that inform their understanding of advocating and parenting the Black child.

TENNIS & LEARNING CENTER PROGRAM:

August 19 - June 4

The Tennis and Learning Center’s afterschool programs provide middle school students the opportunity to be creative in a safe space, and participate in extracurricular activities, while also being able to focus on academic studies with the help of a tutor on hand everyday. Find out more here and here.

  3. Complete Acknowledgements for school year 24/25. For more information, visit sfusd.edu/acknowledgements
  4. You can now report FULL DAY absences in Parentvue! To learn how to report full day absences in ParentVUE, you can view video instructions and instructions on how to submit full day absences on desktop or the mobile ParentVUE app
