Dear Galileo Community,

I would like to share with you that Principal Tami Benau has been appointed as Director of SFUSD iLab and will not be returning to Galileo High School in the fall of 2022. Ms. Benau will be responsible for facilitating systems level changes with stakeholders in schools and across the departments and divisions of the district as they leverage the iLab to solve critical challenges and bring our SFUSD Vision 2025 to life. Galileo High School has partnered with the ilab in the past and look forward to future opportunities as well.

We want to thank Ms. Benau for her 5 years of service as Principal of Galileo High School. Ms. Benau was always grounded in a student centered leadership approach and helped build and foster many effective systems and structures that we know will continue at Galileo.

Over the next few weeks, I will be responsible for securing an interim (one year) Principal appointment for Galileo High School. Given that summer has started we will not be going through a site based community interview process. In the spring, I will share more information around how to participate in the selection of a permanent Galileo Principal for the 2023-2024 school year. Given that Ms. Benau is remaining in SFUSD, she will be providing transition support to the next interim Principal to ensure that your next site leader is set up for success.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Davina Goldwasser
Director Principal Leadership & Support
