Latin Heritage Month Has Begun! (September 15- October 15)
At Flynn, we love celebrating the cultures, traditions, and stories that make our community so special! We welcome families anytime who would like to come in and share their culture, traditions, talents, or experiences with our students.
We’re also getting ready for our Latin Heritage Celebration - Kermes - on October 15 and are looking for family volunteers to help make the event special! If you’d like to participate or volunteer, please reach out to Ms. Melissa (AlvarezM4@sfusd.edu) or Cristina Flores

The City of San Francisco is inviting families and young adults ages 18–24 to participate in a Citywide Survey or attend one of 14 Family Summits happening across the city. Families can choose whichever option works best for them.
There are two ways to participate:

Join one of 14 Family Summits happening across San Francisco. Two at SFUSD school sites.
What families share will help the City and SFUSD better understand what children, youth and families need and inform future planning for our communities and school site planning.

We’ll be at Fiesta on the Hill sharing some Flynn love and helping neighborhood families learn more about their local public school.
Come by for the Flynn art project, enjoy the festivities, and if you meet families who live nearby, help us spread the word about our wonderful Flynn community!

September 21st - AAPAC (African American Parent Advisory Committee)
5:30-6:30pm in the Flynn Cafeteria
Join us for our "Black to School" event hosted by AAPAC - an evening of information, connection and collaboration as we kick off a new school year!
AAPAC is a space for families of African American and Black students.

September 27th - Flynn Garden Work Day
Saturday, 9:30am -12:30pm in the Flynn Garden!
Join our community to beautify our outdoor areas! Pizza will be provided.

October 6th - School Site Council Meeting
3:30-4:30pm in the Flynn library.
Attend our school site council meeting to get updated on all things school budget and be a part of the decision-making!

October 15th - Picture Day
Picture Day will be on October 15th for all grades.
All students will take individual pictures as well as a class picture. As the day gets closer, teachers will send home a flyer with more information on how to purchase photos.
If you would like to volunteer to help on picture day, send an email to Mr. Fred! (SpitzF@sfusd.edu)
Retake picture day is scheduled for November 12th.

We want to make sure student absences are reported and recorded as quickly and accurately as possible. We strongly encourage all families to report absences through ParentVUE.
Please do not call the school to report an absence.
Preferred Method: ParentVUE
Please report your child’s absence directly through your ParentVUE account whenever possible.
